Translate an article paragraph by paragraph — NoaLingua

In short

Keep an article in its original layout while adding translations below its paragraphs. This suits close reading when the page itself is useful and a separate reader would interrupt your work.

Steps

  1. Open an article and choose Translate this page, paragraph by paragraph.
  2. Alternatively use Alt+Shift+P, then scroll to the part you want to read.
  3. Compare each original paragraph with its added translation and check difficult words in context.
  4. Use the control box to stop, or press the shortcut again to remove translations.

Try this exercise

Compare how an opinion article expresses uncertainty in the original and in the translated paragraph.

Watch out for

Online translation can hit a daily limit. A stopped translation is not evidence that the remaining paragraphs are untranslatable.

Check your result

You understand the paragraph and can remove the added translations without losing the original.

A manageable session

Choose one short passage whose overall meaning you can follow. Decide what you want to practise before turning on a feature: hearing words, recalling their meaning or producing a sentence. Keep a note of the difficult moment instead of collecting every unfamiliar word. Stop when you can explain that passage without looking at its translation.

Come back to it

In your next session, try the same passage before opening the answer. If it is still difficult, shorten it and repeat the troublesome part. If it feels easy, use the expression in a new sentence or move to another passage. This is a suggested routine, not a promise of a particular learning speed.

Translation follows your chosen settings and may require an online provider. A printed exercise or exported subtitle file does not download the source video. Use material you are entitled to access and keep a backup before changing your vocabulary collection.
