Import words you already know — NoaLingua
In short
Tell NoaLingua about vocabulary you already recognize before choosing what to study next. Importing known words helps prevent familiar items from becoming unnecessary review tasks.
Steps
- Open Settings → Vocabulary → Words you already know.
- Paste a list or choose a file, select the correct language and word column.
- Read the preview: new entries, existing words and skipped rows need different attention.
- Import, then inspect several known words and an ambiguous entry.
Try this exercise
Start with a small export from Anki. Remove sentences from the word column and check which rows are accepted.
Watch out for
Known is a learning status, not proof that you can use a word in every context. Imports do not move existing words backwards.
Check your result
Familiar words are marked Known without duplicate entries in the selected language.
A manageable session
Choose one short passage whose overall meaning you can follow. Decide what you want to practise before turning on a feature: hearing words, recalling their meaning or producing a sentence. Keep a note of the difficult moment instead of collecting every unfamiliar word. Stop when you can explain that passage without looking at its translation.
Come back to it
In your next session, try the same passage before opening the answer. If it is still difficult, shorten it and repeat the troublesome part. If it feels easy, use the expression in a new sentence or move to another passage. This is a suggested routine, not a promise of a particular learning speed.
Translation follows your chosen settings and may require an online provider. A printed exercise or exported subtitle file does not download the source video. Use material you are entitled to access and keep a backup before changing your vocabulary collection.
