Listen before reading subtitles — NoaLingua

In short

Use NoaLingua Listen first to separate hearing a sentence from reading it. Reveal the original before the translation so you can identify whether the difficulty is sound or meaning.

Steps

  1. Enable Listen first in Settings → Appearance.
  2. Listen while both subtitle lines are blurred and try to repeat the sentence.
  3. Press V to reveal the original, then V again for the translation.
  4. Replay the line and say it again without reading.

Try this exercise

On a short dialogue, predict the last word before revealing the original and explain what helped you recognize it.

Watch out for

Pausing reveals both lines. If you want a blind second attempt, replay with the hiding mode active.

Check your result

You can repeat the sentence and distinguish a hearing mistake from a vocabulary gap.

A manageable session

Choose one short passage whose overall meaning you can follow. Decide what you want to practise before turning on a feature: hearing words, recalling their meaning or producing a sentence. Keep a note of the difficult moment instead of collecting every unfamiliar word. Stop when you can explain that passage without looking at its translation.

Come back to it

In your next session, try the same passage before opening the answer. If it is still difficult, shorten it and repeat the troublesome part. If it feels easy, use the expression in a new sentence or move to another passage. This is a suggested routine, not a promise of a particular learning speed.

Translation follows your chosen settings and may require an online provider. A printed exercise or exported subtitle file does not download the source video. Use material you are entitled to access and keep a backup before changing your vocabulary collection.
