Feature

Turn a YouTube video into a personal practice book

Vocabulary and exercises chosen from the video and what your deck says you need

In short

NoaLingua turns a captioned YouTube video into a short practice book built around its useful words and your own learning history. It includes matching, gap filling, listening, word order and translation exercises, keeps your answers, and can be printed or saved directly as a searchable PDF.

Fit

Who YouTube practice books is for

Choose it for the workflow it actually supports, not for a promise the product does not make.

Best for

  • Learners who want one captioned video turned into varied exercises chosen from their own vocabulary history.
  • Teachers and self-learners who want a searchable worksheet they can print or revisit on screen.

Not the right fit for

  • Netflix or videos without a complete usable transcript, because the book needs the whole source before it can plan exercises.
  • Anyone expecting a generic workbook unrelated to what they watch or the words they have already met.

How to use it

How to use YouTube practice books in NoaLingua

  1. 1

    Open a captioned YouTube video

Choose a video in the language you are learning and let NoaLingua load its full transcript.

  2. 2

    Choose Practice book

Open the NoaLingua menu, go to Practice and select Practice book. Saved words from this video and words you often miss receive priority.

  3. 3

Work on screen or keep a copy

Check each exercise as you go. Use Print for paper or Save as PDF for a searchable file; listening exercises remain on screen because paper cannot play the source audio.

Mechanism

Why NoaLingua behaves this way

Why the book is different for each learner

The transcript supplies the sentences, while your local deck supplies what you already know, what you saved from this video and what keeps going wrong. That lets the book select useful material instead of turning every caption into an exercise.

The book and your answers remain in My practice books. A return date gives the same material another retrieval round instead of making a disposable worksheet.

Why the PDF leaves listening out

The on-screen book can replay the exact line from the source video. A printed page cannot, so the exported layout removes the listening section and letters the remaining exercises without leaving a misleading gap.

The saved PDF has searchable text. In current source builds, bilingual transcript PDFs also reopen in NoaLingua as a two-column book rather than being translated a second time.

Common questions about NoaLingua

Can I make another book from the same video?

Yes. The book is stored under My practice books, and you can return for another round without rebuilding it.

Does it use words I already saved?

Yes. Words saved from that video and words you repeatedly miss receive priority; known words are avoided.

Can I save it without opening the print dialog?

Yes. Source version 0.2.131 added a direct Save as PDF button with searchable text.

Does creating a book send my deck to a server?

No. Selection and scoring use local data. Only translation follows the translation source you selected in Settings.
