What NoaLingua can do now

A current feature map, with the implementation and Store versions kept separate

In short

The current source implementation is 0.2.151; the last independently verified Chrome Web Store listing showed 0.2.53. The newer code adds a shared navigation and visual system, searchable settings and menus, speaking practice with progress, a vocabulary crossword, direct searchable-PDF saving, a clearer video practice strip and broader support reporting. Check the Store version before expecting those controls.

Version status

SurfaceVerified versionWhat that means
Current source implementation0.2.151These capabilities exist in the inspected LingaCue source tree.
Chrome Web Store listing0.2.53This was the last independently verified public listing; an installed copy may not yet contain later controls.

Watch and listen

Dual subtitles, sentence reconstruction, replay, previous and next sentence, auto-pause, adjustable playback, a searchable YouTube transcript, a second-screen transcript window, subtitle-file loading for other videos, bookmarks, dictation and whole-video shadowing.

YouTube exposes a full caption track, so NoaLingua can analyse and export it. Netflix exposes only the current line, so it cannot provide a whole-film transcript or bilingual PDF. That limit is structural and remains true in the newest version.

Read and look up words

Clickable words work in subtitles, selected web text, the bilingual reader and text-based PDFs. A card can show the contextual meaning, grammatical form, pronunciation, examples and saved source sentence, depending on the data available for that language.

Definitions and grammar labels can follow the learner's explanation language. Hover lookup follows inflected verbs to their dictionary form, while languages without a downloaded dictionary can fall back to the configured translator.

Remember and practise

Saved words feed spaced review, recall questions, listening tasks, dictation, matching and other games. Newer code adds speaking questions inside Learn, a view of the last twenty speaking attempts, difficult-word shortcuts and a crossword generated from the learner's own vocabulary and sentence context.

Practice books can be created from a video, opened again from My books, printed, or saved directly as a searchable PDF. The PDF keeps printable exercises and leaves audio-only tasks on screen where they can still play.

The current code gives NoaLingua pages one navigation bar for Learn, Library, Practice books, Reader, Player and Settings. Settings and the YouTube quick menu are searchable, and product surfaces follow a shared light or dark visual system.

Community & support builds a diagnostic report that you can read before copying it to the Store support page. It includes product and browser details but excludes page addresses, video titles, subtitles and saved words.

What remains outside the product

No mobile app, Firefox or Safari build; no cloud account or automatic deck sync; no guarantee that Chrome supplies an on-device translation or speech model for a particular pair; no way to create captions where a site exposes neither captions nor a usable subtitle file.

NoaLingua supports study from real material. It does not certify proficiency, replace a teacher, or guarantee fluency.

If it still does not work Refresh the page first — an orphaned script after an extension update explains most reports. Then see troubleshooting, or tell us what happened.
