Every setting, and what it changes

Settings open from the extension popup, the gear in the player quick menu, or chrome://extensions. There are nine sections in two groups — the ones about watching, and the ones about learning.

General — where it runs

The master switch, plus per-site switches for YouTube and Netflix. Also: pause when the explanation panel opens (off), pause while the mouse is on the subtitles (off), use YouTube’s translation for the first seconds (on), offer to continue a video where you left it (on), let NoaLingua speak out loud (on), enable player shortcuts (on), and enable the AI panel as a whole (on).

Appearance — how subtitles look

A live preview uses the same font and colour tables as the real overlay, so it is not an approximation.

Fade known words (on) · focus mode (off) · hover for meaning (on) · select text on any page (on) · drag to save a phrase (on) · hide the translation until asked (off).

Font: default, serif or monospace. Colour: default, white, yellow or cyan — a closed set of classic subtitle colours rather than an arbitrary picker. Sizes from 75 to 200%, box width 40–100% of the player, height above the bottom 0–60%, background opacity, line spacing and alignment.

Languages — and where translations come from

The learning and translation pair, the on-device model status, and the language pack.

Prefer: Local (on-device, private) or Cloud with local fallback. The MyMemory email field appears only with Cloud, and raises the daily quota from 5,000 to 50,000 characters.

Try YouTube’s own translation first (on) · translate definitions into my language (off) · offer external help when a source fails (off) · look up real conjugation tables and examples (on — sends only the word, never the sentence).

Study — practice, and your numbers

The manual review screen with the four grading buttons, plus six cards of data: today’s progress against a daily goal, the last 30 days including the empty ones, how sessions are going, the 20 words that would open the most of what you watch, your video shelf, and your bookmarked moments.

Four settings cards: reminders (off), sound on answers (on), how words are asked, and speech on this device.

The remaining sections

Downloads — status and manual control of every pack. Vocabulary — everything saved, with search, the three per-word counters, and all the export formats. Privacy & data — the profile file, settings sync, and the delete and repair actions. Plan & licence — your plan and the key field. About — version, the full capability list, the privacy statement and the data-source licences.

If it still does not work Refresh the page first — an orphaned script after an extension update explains most reports. Then see troubleshooting, or tell us what happened.
