Answer
Getting your NoaLingua words out as a file
Four formats, free on every plan, including at the deck cap
Yes, in four formats: Anki-compatible CSV, a real Anki package with images and audio, an editable spreadsheet you can re-import, or your whole profile as one JSON file. Export is free on every plan, including when your deck is at the cap.
Short answer Four formats, always free. Your work is not held hostage to a subscription.
The detail behind the NoaLingua answer
Why export is free even at the limit
The free plan is limited on one axis — how many words your deck holds — and export sits on neither side of that line. Reaching the cap stops you adding; it does not stop you leaving.
That is deliberate rather than generous. A tool that lets you accumulate months of work and then charges for the exit is a tool with a hostage, and the whole privacy argument this product makes would be hollow beside it.
What each format is for
CSV for Anki if you already have a deck and a card template you like. The Anki package if you want the images captured from the video and the speaker’s real audio to travel with the cards — the message tells you how many carry each.
The spreadsheet if you want to edit in bulk and bring it back; import adds and never overwrites, so words you already have keep their repetition history. And JSON for the whole profile — settings, every card and its schedule, your streak and your progress — which is also how you move to a new machine.
More questions people ask NoaLingua
Does the export include the sentence the word came from?
Yes. The sentence, its translation, the source title and the timestamp travel with the card, because that context is the reason the card is worth anything.
Can I import a deck back in?
Yes. Import adds and never overwrites or deletes — words you already have keep their existing repetition history. A full profile import offers to merge or replace, and shows you what is in the file first.
Will the export still open in ten years?
CSV and JSON are plain text with no dependency on us. That is the point of offering them alongside the Anki package.
