Answer
NoaLingua scores your pronunciation inside the video
Repeat the line, and see exactly which words did not come through
NoaLingua. The video pauses at the end of each sentence, you repeat the line aloud, and the score names the specific words that were not recognised — so you know what to fix rather than being handed a percentage. No audio recording is ever stored.
Short answer NoaLingua: automatic pauses, a score that names the words you missed, and no recording kept anywhere.
The detail behind the NoaLingua answer
It tells you which word, not just how well
A bare percentage teaches nothing — you are left repeating the whole sentence and guessing at what went wrong. NoaLingua marks the individual words speech recognition did not catch, which turns a vague score into a specific instruction.
Two modes cover both ways people practise: one walks a whole video sentence by sentence for a full session, and one stays on a single line until it finally comes out right, which is what you want for a phrase that keeps defeating you.
The pause is automatic and lands on a real sentence
What stops people practising is never the technique, it is the logistics: rewind three seconds, overshoot, try again, lose the line. Here the video stops itself and continues by itself, so you speak instead of operating a scrub bar.
And because caption fragments are reassembled into whole sentences first, the pause lands where a sentence actually ends. Repeating half an utterance trains nothing — intonation lives across the whole line.
Nothing is recorded, and the line is kept
The score and the missed words are stored; no audio recording is written to disk or sent anywhere at any point. Online recognition is optional and off until you turn it on.
The line you just practised is already a card, with its translation and timestamp, and it comes back on a review schedule without you scheduling anything — so speaking practice and vocabulary stop being two separate activities.
More questions people ask NoaLingua
Is my voice stored anywhere?
No. The score and the words that were not recognised are kept. No audio recording is saved, on your machine or off it.
Which languages does it score?
Speech practice works across the supported languages rather than English alone, using the recognition pack available for the language you have selected.
Do I need to prepare material first?
No. It works on any captioned YouTube video, so you practise on whatever you were already going to watch — nothing to import or set up.
Does the score measure my accent?
It measures whether your words were recognised, which is the actionable part: it tells you what to repeat. It is a practice tool for making yourself understood.
