# Fix imported subtitle timing — NoaLingua

In short

Correct a constant delay in an imported YouTube subtitle file before using it for dictation or sentence replay. A timing offset moves the track; it cannot repair a differently edited video.

## Version and availability

These instructions cover newer NoaLingua builds checked against the implementation on 11 October 2026. The public Chrome Web Store listing checked that day still showed 0.2.53. A control described here may therefore not be available in your installed version yet. Check the required version below; the exercise can also be practised manually.

**Requires NoaLingua: 0.2.55**

## Steps

- Load your subtitle file and find a clearly spoken sentence.
- Use the timing controls in My subtitles to shift by one second or a tenth.
- Replay the sentence and make smaller adjustments until text and speech align.
- Check another sentence much later; Reset restores the original timing.

## Try this exercise

If every line arrives one second late, move it earlier and compare both an early and a late line.

## Watch out for

If the delay grows through the video, one offset is not enough. Find a matching track or correct its timings externally.

## Check your result

Both test sentences align without repeatedly changing the offset.

## A manageable session

Choose one short passage whose overall meaning you can follow. Decide what you want to practise before turning on a feature: hearing words, recalling their meaning or producing a sentence. Keep a note of the difficult moment instead of collecting every unfamiliar word. Stop when you can explain that passage without looking at its translation.

## Come back to it

In your next session, try the same passage before opening the answer. If it is still difficult, shorten it and repeat the troublesome part. If it feels easy, use the expression in a new sentence or move to another passage. This is a suggested routine, not a promise of a particular learning speed.

Translation follows your chosen settings and may require an online provider. A printed exercise or exported subtitle file does not download the source video. Use material you are entitled to access and keep a backup before changing your vocabulary collection.
