# Which sites NoaLingua puts dual subtitles on

YouTube and Netflix by design — and the honest answer for Disney+, Prime Video and the course platforms

NoaLingua has dedicated support for YouTube and Netflix. Anywhere else it works only where the page exposes a readable caption track, which rules out most protected streaming — Disney+, Prime Video and Rakuten Viki among them. Reading, word lookup and saving still work on any web page and inside PDFs.

Short answer YouTube and Netflix by design. Elsewhere only where a site exposes a readable caption track, which most streaming services do not.

Beyond that, YouTube and Netflix have adapters written specifically for them, which is what makes sentence rebuilding, replay on real boundaries and — on YouTube — look-ahead translation and transcript export possible. A generic caption track gives none of that even when it is readable.

Several competing products list a dozen platforms or more, and that is a real advantage of theirs rather than marketing. If most of your watching happens on Disney+ or Prime Video, they are the better answer, and the comparison pages say so in as many words.

### The part that works everywhere

Subtitles are one of four surfaces. On any web page you can select text for the same translation card the video gives, hold Alt and click a paragraph to place a translation underneath it without replacing anything, or highlight every word your deck has never met. An article in your target language is fully supported on any site.

PDFs are the fourth. A document can be read with paragraphs aligned side by side, or in its original layout with every word still clickable, and either way the words you save join the same schedule as the ones saved from a video. None of that depends on a platform choosing to expose captions.

### What is never possible, on any site

Nothing here bypasses DRM, geo-restriction or a subscription. The extension reads what the site has already displayed to you, in the region and on the plan you already have. A title you cannot watch stays a title you cannot watch, and a language track that is not offered where you are does not become available.

It also does not create subtitles where none exist, unless you deliberately turn on speech recognition — and then it labels the result a machine guess, because that is what it is. There is no mobile app and no Firefox or Safari build, so none of this applies on a phone or a television.

## More questions people ask NoaLingua

Does it work on Disney+?

No. Disney+ does not expose a caption track the generic adapter can read, and there is no dedicated adapter for it. If Disney+ is where you watch, one of the tools that names it explicitly is the better choice.

Does it work on Amazon Prime Video?

No, for the same reason as Disney+. Prime Video is not supported, and we would rather say so plainly than let you find out after installing.

What about Udemy, Coursera or TED?

It depends on the individual player. Where a course platform exposes a readable caption track the generic adapter picks it up; where it does not, nothing appears. None has a dedicated adapter, so treat any of them as unverified rather than promised.

Does it work on Rakuten Viki?

No. Viki is named here because several competing tools support it and we do not, which is a genuine reason to pick one of them if K-dramas on Viki are your main material.

Can I use it on a site that is not a video site at all?

Yes, and that is the part with no platform list. Selection lookup, Alt-click paragraph translation and unknown-word highlighting run on any page, and PDFs have two dedicated reading modes of their own.

Will more platforms be added?

Anything real enough to name would be on the roadmap rather than in an answer page. Each new platform is a separate adapter that then has to be maintained against that platform changing, which is why the list is short rather than aspirational.
