A fourth, met-without-clicking, is computed where it is displayed rather than stored, so it cannot contradict the other two. Short answer Three counts per card — met, clicked, practised — kept raw, with no score derived from them. Step by step ## Doing it with NoaLingua - 1 ### Open Settings → Vocabulary Each word's row shows the three counts as small figures. The full sentence is in the row's tooltip: "met 14 in subtitles · clicked 3 · met without clicking 11 · practiced in a game or review 8". - 2 ### Expand a card for the history Beyond the counters, a card keeps each encounter separately, oldest first, with the sentence, its translation, the video title and the exact moment. More than one reads as a line: "Met 4 times, across 3 videos." - 3 ### Look at the thumbnails, where there are any If a frame was captured when you saved, the encounters appear as a strip of thumbnails, each captioned with its own sentence. The fourth figure, met without clicking, is computed at the point of display as encountered minus clicked. Storing it would create a third number that could drift out of step with the other two, and a set of counters that contradict each other is worse than one fewer counter. ### What is counted, and what is thrown away Encounters are counted once per appearance rather than once per word, so rewinding and listening to the same sentence again counts again — which is the intent, because hearing it again is the thing that matters. Only words already in your deck are counted at all. The page sends the words of the subtitle that is on screen anyway, the background worker increments the counters for words you saved, and every other word is compared and discarded without ever being written down. No sentence, video or timestamp travels with that event, and if the message is lost nothing is reported as an error — these are numbers for you, not measurement of you. ### What else a card remembers about how you get it wrong Which game asked last, so the same one does not ask twice in a row — across sessions, not just within one. Misses by question type: meaning, production, grammar, listening. That is how the mix can target what you are weakest at, and how the Vocabulary boss challenge knows which words have given you trouble. And, from say-it-back, the score and the words that did not pass on each attempt. Numbers and words only — audio is never recorded anywhere, ever. That is what turns "my pronunciation is bad" into "heureusement has failed six attempts", which is a solvable problem. No. They live in the extension's local database in your own Chrome profile. There is no account, no analytics and no telemetry — they travel only in the profile file you export yourself. Why does a word I never clicked have encounters? Because it is in your deck: once a word is saved, every later appearance in a subtitle increments its count whether you click it or not. That is exactly the gap the met-without-clicking figure is measuring. Is there a limit on stored encounters? Yes — the number of saved contexts per word is capped, and the oldest is dropped when it is exceeded.
