# Does Netflix have dual subtitles? NoaLingua answers

No — and here is what actually puts two languages on screen

No. Netflix has no dual-subtitle setting on any device — its player carries one subtitle track at a time, and the language menu switches between them rather than adding. A desktop browser extension is the only way to see two at once, because it draws the second line itself over the page Netflix already rendered.

Short answer No. Netflix shows one subtitle track at a time, everywhere, and there is no setting to change it.

So every tool that shows you two languages on Netflix is doing the same thing underneath: reading the subtitle line the player has already put on screen, translating it, and drawing a second line under it. Nothing is being unlocked, and nothing is being taken from Netflix that it was not already showing you.

### What that means for what any tool can do

It also sets a hard limit worth knowing before you install anything. Because the second line is built from what has already appeared, only lines you have actually reached exist as data. There is no whole-film transcript to export, and nothing to translate in advance — which is why a translation can occasionally arrive a beat after the line it belongs to.

YouTube is different, and the difference is structural rather than a matter of effort: YouTube hands over the entire caption track at once. Any tool can therefore translate ahead there, land a replay exactly on a sentence boundary, and export the whole script. On Netflix nobody can, us included.

### How NoaLingua does it

NoaLingua reads the line Netflix is already displaying, groups caption fragments back into whole sentences, and shows the original with a translation underneath. Every word in both lines is clickable: one click gives the meaning that word carries in that sentence, its dictionary form, the conjugation table at the row you clicked, and real examples.

Saving a word keeps the sentence, its translation, the title and the exact moment, and the card comes back on a spaced schedule. That works identically on Netflix and YouTube — it is only the whole-film features above that Netflix cannot support.

## More questions people ask NoaLingua

Is there a Netflix setting for two subtitles I have missed?

No. The subtitle menu switches languages rather than adding them, on every device Netflix ships. Anything showing two at once is drawing the second line itself.

Does turning on dual subtitles break Netflix or risk my account?

A dual-subtitle extension reads the page Netflix already rendered in your browser. It does not touch DRM, does not change your account, and does not request anything Netflix has not already sent you in the region and plan you have.

Can I get the whole film as a bilingual transcript?

Not on Netflix. Only lines that have appeared on screen exist as data, so there is no complete script to export. On YouTube you can, because the whole caption track is available at once.
